DES MOINES (AP) - The Iowa Department of Public Health has begun using Twitter to update residents on the swine flu situation in the state.

The department issued a news release Friday saying that a Twitter page had been created to give Iowans an opportunity to stay up-to-date on the status of the illness in the state.

As of Friday, there were three probable cases of swine flu in Iowa and state health officials say they were waiting for confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Anyone interested in viewing the state health department's Twitter page can go to www.twitter.com and search for IAPublicHealth.
