AP - The young woman convicted of setting a deadly fire at her family's home in Griswold last year says she wishes she had figured out a different way to "rescue'' her siblings from a childhood spotted with neglect and abuse.

In a telephone interview with The Des Moines Register, Tracey Dyess says she set the fire to stop years of sex with her stepfather, Brian Street. Instead, she killed her sister and nephew.

Street faces a federal trial on six counts related to child pornography and sexual exploitation of two children, including Dyess and her sister. Dyess plans to testify at his trial, which has been postponed until January eighth.

Dyess talked to the newspaper from the state prison in Mount Pleasant, where she's serving 45 years for arson, voluntary manslaughter and attempted murder.
