CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) - A teenager has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a Cedar Rapids police officer and robbing another man last month.

A trial date was also set Monday for July 27 in Jose Rockiett's case.

The 17-year-old is charged with assault on a peace officer with willful injury and first-degree robbery. He faces up to 10 years in prison for the assault charge.

Police say Rockiett beat Officer Tim Davis unconscious after he and other officers responded to a mugging.

Davis remains at a St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. His condition hasn't been released.

A 14-year-old and 15-year-old are also charged in the robbery.
