DES MOINES (AP) - A Des Moines man convicted of killing his wife and a neighbor has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Nath Inthaboun was sentenced Friday on two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of his common law wife, Bounpamh Xayavogchanh and a neighbor, Amalia Vasquez.

During the incident on Aug. 14, police say Inthaboun also shot at officers as they rushed inside a home to rescue three children he was holding inside his house.

Inthaboun also was found guilty of two counts of assault with intent to inflict serious injury for shooting at the officers.
