Three Cedar Rapids Schools Locked Down, No One Hurt

CEDAR RAPIDS - Three schools in Cedar Rapids were locked down on Wednesday morning after a Jefferson High School student became combative with school officials and threatened to hurt himself. Police believed the student had access to weapons.

CRPD says that Jefferson High School, Trinity Lutheran School, and Cleveland Elementary were locked-down from around 9:15 until 9:40 a.m. as a precaution. The student did not make threats to harm anyone in the schools.

The student was found unharmed at home and the partial lock-down was canceled at 9:40 a.m.

Cedar Rapids Community School District officials say Jefferson HS was under a partial lock-down. During that time, all exterior doors were locked and classes continued as normal inside the building.
