BLAIRSBURG (AP) - Two people are dead and 6 others injured after a van and a sport utility vehicle crashed on U.S. Highway 69 in northern Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened just before noon on Sunday, just north of Blairsburg. The patrol says weather was a factor in the crash.

Paula Ann Johnson, 53, of Belmond and Minnie Johnson, 93, of Belmond died in the crash. They were passengers in the van, driven by Dallas Johnson, 53, of Belmond.

The patrol says another passenger in the van was hurt, as was the driver of the SUV and four passengers.

The patrol says Dallas Johnson lost control of the van he was driving because of the weather and struck the oncoming SUV on the passenger side.
