More Job Cuts at Electrolux in Webster City

WEBSTER CITY (AP) - Electrolux is cutting more jobs at its washer and dryer plant in Webster City.

The company says 43 employees will be laid off, beginning Monday. Spokesman Tony Evans blames the economic downturn and a weakened demand for appliances.

Evans says all workers could be called back when market conditions improve.

The job cuts follow a layoff of 99 workers at the plant in November.

The company is also closing its Webster City plant that makes central vacuum systems. Officials announced the closing in January, saying the jobs will be lost as it moves the plant to Mexico by the end of this year.
