SUV Collides Head-On with Semi Hauling Cattle

By Becky Ogann

GRANT COUNTY, Wis. - A Wisconsin man is in the hospital after his SUV collided head-on with a semi carrying cattle.

It happened Wednesday around 4:45 p.m. on Hwy 18 in Mt. Ida Township. Bryan Beneker, 23, of Prairie Du Chien, was driving west on the highway when he hit a slick spot on the road. He crossed over the center line, colliding nearly head-on with the semi driven by Russell Rezac, 54, of Nebraska. The semi slid out of control and ended up in some nearby woods.

Rezac was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released. Beneker was transported to a hospital in Madison. His condition is unknown.

Authorities say charges are pending.
