Classes Cancelled, Grief Counselors at Crash Victim's School

By Becky Ogann

LINN COUNTY - Cedar Valley Christian School is not holding classes today. But there will be grief counselors available for students and faculty all day at the school.

This comes after senior Tyler Toll was killed in a car crash Tuesday morning. It happened along Highway 100 at Tama Street SE, near the Menards store in Marion.

Police say that Toll's car hit a Cedar Rapids school bus and ended up in some nearby woods. Authorities say the bus was turning west onto Highway 100 from Tama Street. The car was heading westbound when it struck the rear of the bus.

Police identified the bus driver as Ruth Kenton, 40, of 2717 2nd Ave. S.E. Cedar Rapids. The accident is still under investigation and no charges were filed yet.

Toll, 18, of Robins suffered serious injuries and later died. He would have graduated in May from Cedar Valley Christian School.

There were ten elementary age students on the bus at the time of the accident. None of them were injured. The students were transferred to a different bus and transported to school. All parents were directly notified, according to the district.
