CEDAR RAPIDS - On Tuesday the Cedar Rapids city council unanimously voted to put a local option sales tax on the ballot on March 3rd.

All of the 80 disaster-declared counties could put the one-cent local option sales tax up for a vote.

If it passes, the tax would go into effect as early as April 1st. Revenue from the tax could mean millions of dollars for flood relief efforts.

The Linn County board of supervisors plan to talk about a local option sales tax ballot at Tuesday's meeting as well.
