Enrollment Up at UI, Slightly Down at UNI, ISU

AP - The University of Iowa has slightly increased its enrollment this fall, while student populations have dropped at Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa.
According to reports released Wednesday, the U of I has 29,979 students this fall, a one percent increase from fall 2005. The school also attracted almost 4300 freshmen, 440 more than last year.
Iowa State has 25,462 students, a decrease of approximately one percent from last fall.
ISU officials say they are happy with the numbers and are touting the school's largest freshman/transfer student class in four years. Iowa State has 5700 new undergraduates this fall, including almost four thousand freshmen, a 5.7 percent increase from last fall.
UNI has 12,260 students, down two percent from fall 2005. UNI reported a slight increase in the number of new freshmen and a decrease in the number of transfer students.
