Fire Leads Officials to 100+ Marijuana Plants

JO DAVIESS COUNTY, IL - When officials were called to a structure fire in Jo Daviess County, they discovered a large scale marijuana grow operation.
The Hanover Fire Department, as well as the Elizabeth Fire Department, responded to extinguish a fire 106 Blackhawk Street, Hanover, IL around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Upon entering the building, Fire Department personnel discovered the drugs. The Jo Daviess County Drug Interdiction Unit and the Illinois State Fire Marshall were called to the scene.
Approximately 76 marijuana plants were recovered by law enforcement. The total number of plants was believed to be over 100, however, several plants were unable to be recovered due to fire damage.
No arrests have been made as this investigation continues.
