Cresco Featherlie Employees Laid Off

By Daren Sukhram

CRESCO (AP) - Featherlite Trailers has laid off workers from its plant in Cresco.

Company spokesman John Hall declined to say how many workers were let go but the town's mayor, Rhonda Hughes, says about 200
workers lost their job.

Hall says the company had shut down the plant in December in hopes of avoiding permanent layoffs. He says the worsening economic conditions prevented the workers from returning.

Hall says the plant also shut down for a week in early September. He says the closures were intended to help balance sales with production.

Featherlite makes horse trailers, stock trailers, car trailers, recreational trailers, utility trailers and cargo trailers.
