Iowa Governor Chet Culver says the amount Iowa will receive in federal disaster funds to provide social services is unacceptable. As part of the 22-point-3 billion dollars approved for disaster assistance, 600-million will go towards social services. That includes mental health services and crisis counseling.

Of the 600-million dollars the Department of Health and Human Services awarded, 11-million is coming to Iowa. That's less than 2-percent. Senator Tom Harkin says Iowa's portion of the funds is "outrageous." Harkin says there's no reason why Iowa shouldn't have a bigger piece of the pie.
