House Fire Burns Hole in Roof

House Fire Burns Hole in Roof

CEDAR RAPIDS - Fire crews responded to a house fire at 4125 14th Ave. SE around 4:30AM Friday. Flames were showing from the roof of the single-story home.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire and applied water to the neighbor's home to prevent it from spreading. The heaviest heat, fire and smoke damage was to the kitchen area and extended into the attic area, burning a hole in the roof.

No one was home at the time and no one was hurt.

Neighbors at 1417 14th Ave. SE reported the fire. Their home did not appear to have any damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
