DUBUQUE COUNTY - Dubuque County authorities have released the name of the person they say shot and killed a man at a Dyersville apartment.

David Herman died after he was shot Saturday afternoon.

Investigators say Herman was involved in an altercation with a locksmith before he was shot.

That locksmith is now identified as Christopher Leppert, 48, of Dubuque.

In a statement Tuesday afternoon, Dubuque County Attorney Ralph Potter says he was reluctant to release the shooter's name.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no word whether charges will be filed against Leppert.

Potter stresses in his statement that Leppert has not been accused or charged with any crime and is presumed innocent.
