CEDAR RAPIDS - A Charles City man accused of lying to authorities investigating Evelyn Miller's death is back in jail.
Dan Slick missed his court hearing Wednesday in Cedar Rapids and was put in Floyd County Jail to await another hearing Thursday morning. A judge at Wednesday's hearing was to decide whether Slick violated conditions of his pretrial release by using drugs.
Slick was initially charged in June with lying to authorities during the homicide investigation of 5-year-old Evelyn.
The girl disappeared from her family's rural Floyd County apartment on July 1, 2005. Her body was found five days later in the Cedar River about two miles from her home.
No charges have been filed in her death, but authorities have said they are making progress.
Slick's trial has been delayed to October 2. The original trial date was Sept. 5, but Slick's attorney asked the court for more time because he had not contacted Slick since his arraignment June 29.
