CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) - The first-degree murder trial of a Cedar Rapids man accused of killing another man is scheduled to begin in Linn County District Court.

Jury selection was to start Monday in the case against Timothy Hines. He's accused of fatally stabbing Nathan Williams on June 22, 2007, outside a gas station. The two men allegedly got into an argument over Hines' girlfriend, Mya Williams.

Hines and Williams, who was wanted as a material witness, alluded authorities for almost nine months. There were living in Davenport when they were taken into custody in March.

Court records show that Hines plans to claim self defense.
