MARSHALLTOWN (AP) - Authorities say they may have found a gun used in a double homicide in Marshall County.

The sheriff's office says the gun was found on Sunday when deputies went back to the scene where two people were found shot to death last month.

Kyle Deemer, of West Des Moines, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Jessica Deemer, of Waukee, and Bryce Mercer, of West Des Moines. Their bodies were found near a ditch along a highway on Oct. 14.

Sheriff Ted Kamatchus says the area has now been mowed, which helped deputies find the gun.

The weapon has been turned over Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
