Dubuque - After almost 50 years in business Wilwert's Harley-Davidson says it's going out of businesses. Says there are many questions that are going unanswered. Owners of Wilwert's Motorcycle shop and their lawyers wouldn't tell TV-9 much about why the company is going out of business. But they did confirm this closing, is a foreclosure.
This sign on the window seems to be the beginning of the story. According to the Dubuque County Sheriff's Department, the building will be set for public auction early next year.
The sale notice says a judgment awarded American Trust and Savings Bank in Dubuque one point six million dollars.
Employees said Clay Wilwert was not available when TV-9 stopped in the store.
Wilwert's attorney Fran Henkels told us this is a delicate time for the Wilwert family.
The sheriff's sale notice says this property is set for public auction on January 15, 2009. Henkels says they still have time to straighten things out before that date.
