DES MOINES (AP) - A Des Moines department store employee is in jail after being accused of using customer credit cards to purchase hundreds of dollars in gift certificates.

Police say Erika Washington was booked in to the Polk County Jail Wednesday evening. She remained in jail on Thursday on $25,000 bond.

Washington, a Younkers employee, is accused of using customers' credit cards to purchase $850 in gift certificates.

According to a police report, Washington told officers she did it for friends who threatened to take her vehicle.
