BUCHANAN COUNTY - There is new information Wednesday in the death of a two-year-old boy from Coralville. Investigators said on Wednesday that Michelle Kehoe told police on Monday that a man attacked her family with a knife.
The Coralville woman and her two sons, Seth, 2, and Sean, 7, were reported missing Sunday night. When they turned up Monday morning near Littleton in Buchanan County, law officers found the youngest boy, Seth, was dead from cuts to his neck. His mother and seven year old brother were seriously hurt.
Despite the mother's claim, police have said from the beginning that the public is not at risk.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Buchanan County Attorney had a meeting with state investigators and representatives from the Iowa Attorney General's Office.
The Division of Criminal Investigation was brought to the scene where the family's van was found to help find evidence. Now the Attorney General's office is helping with possible charges.
Buchanan County Attorney Alan Vander Hart told TV9 that Wednesday's meeting was productive, but wouldn't elaborate. He said no one has been charged yet, but he expected the investigation to wrap up soon.
Condition reports are still not available for Michelle and Sean Kehoe.
