It seems that sometimes an attempt at a glamour portrait just doesn't work.

But lordy, if red-headed women don't suffer from *HBP. It's that quite-trigger temper, I suspect. * "H" = high, and "P" = potnetial. You can figure out the "B" stands for- =o)

Alas -- if only she was as hot as she thinks she is.

Too many stupid comments here and comments on her appearance. Anyone is better than Clancy. she may be good, but we should given a local person the job.

I think it's great the area is able to attract outside talent. But I have to wonder why we need to, with as many talented people in the area. I always got the impression Iowa was trying to hold on to Iowan's with talent/skills. This sends a message that Iowan's apparently aren't as talented (or up to speed with the rest of the country) as we are led to believe.

I hope she is a lot better than the last one. That won't take much.

I agree with "Tired". Research before opening your mouths or flexing your fingers on your keyboards. Her age, looks, sex or place of origin have nothing to do with her abilities. Keep in mind that we've had a recent rash of CEO's running off with their company's/employee's money in this country and if I'm not mistaken they were all older men. Good Luck Shannon and welcome to CR where un-informed opinions are free!

Yep, Amana was last week, and it was all over KCRG. They lay off every other month. Is it really news anymore? Considering the "locals" we have running this city, I think hiring from somewhere else is a good thing...

Wow- Good Cedar Rapidians with the warm welcome. Best of luck Shannon. Hasn't even been here a day and the critics are out already. You'll do great- looking forward to your leadership!

To the individual who believes that the most pressing topic about the new hire is the way she looks: Instead of commenting on her appearance, maybe you should take the time to research this indivual and see what she has accomplished in her "short" life. Her background is actually quite amazing and I think she will be a great addition to this area. I would like to see the list of your accomplishments, as well as YOUR self-portrait. Definitely a very shallow view of the situation.

She had this mug shot on her resume, didn't she? Not bad looking, fresh, eager. Oh wait, not from Iowa?? I'm sure she can look at stats and meet a couple of folks. She will fit right in. Is she single?

another flood to put things in perspective. the economy is in shambles, the city has been ruined by a flood, jobs are relocating out of the area, many businesses will not re-open and the city chooses to entrust its future development efforts to someone with minimal experience and limited, if any, ties to the area. i expected more from cr but given the track record of lee and the rest of the gladhanders on the chamber i guess that i was mistaken. i fear for this city's future.

That was actually announced last week (Oct 9th to be exact) and KCRG reported it then. Not saying that more important things than the new chamber CEO, but if you are going to criticize you may want to be right when you do it :) (And it was 440, approximately 20% of their workforce)

How rude you are, saying they could have found someone better looking. You really make the whole city look bad by saying rude comments like that. If I were her, I tell you to stick it where the sun don't shine. Maybe we need someone younger and fresher to look at this city and help turn it around. She probably won't fall asleep during meetings.

i'm sure that a qualified candidate could have been sourced locally. given that our new fearless leader has spent her past two positions jumping between the land of lakes and god's waiting room, one must wonder how much experience and expertise she has developed at a ripe old age of 33. of course, the more pressing question here is could we have found at least found one that is better looking? nice to see that the self congratulatory lee has moved on... hopefully to south florida. : )

I believe the chamber is funded by the fees it charges its members, not tax dollars. So unless something is different w/ the way the CR chamber is run/set up, taxpayers will not be paying a dime for search, move, etc. If I'm incorrect on this, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Monday, Oct 13 at 12:09 PM Aunt Aggie wrote ...

Do we not have enough local talent? You do realize tax payers that not only are you now going to have to pay her salary but the expense of moving her and her family up here? Not only that but I'm sure she had one or two trip up here for the interview process and house hunting - once again add that to the tab. For once why can't we go with local talent and save some money especially now when we the taxpayers will have to pick up the tab.

even Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce cannot hire someone from the area, nothing against the new hire, but really???
