Nevada Man Charge with "Socking" Police Officer

By Becky Ogann

CORALVILLE (AP) - A Nevada man has been arrested for socking a Coralville police officer in the eye.

Police say in reports that officers responded to a Coralville hotel on Sunday to remove guests from a room. The reports say one of the occupants, 33-year-old Daniel Kasey of North Las Vegas, Nev., became "loud and vulgar."

Officers reported that Kasey continued to curse at them until he threw a sock at an officer, hitting the officer in the right eye. The reports say Kasey began fighting the officers after he was told he was under arrest.

It's always refreshing to see a professional (?) news source like KCRG come up with childish pun headlines like this, especially for what could have been a serious incident. And they're even savvy enough to prevent a critique like this one from getting posted on their website. I guess a degree in Journalism really IS an asset in the "mainstream" media, eh?

Don't you love it when sophomoric journalists get to make cute pun headlines? It really does help to bolster KCRG's claim of being a "news" source. Seriously, though ... GROW UP!

Maybe the officer had it coming. Police are not always right in what they do. Arresting someone for throwing a sock? I would hate to see what would happen if it was his underware instead!!

Stink eye, Ha Ha Ha that's sew darn hilarious! But seriously, my brother's friend had feet so stinky that just exposing his socks to anyone could be deemed assault.

You guys aren't the mighty 1630 KCJJ so please don't try. Just report the story, don't try to make it humorous. "Socking" the cop? Really? Come on.

What happens in Iowa, stays on your police record. I wonder if he was imitating the actor who threw a phone during a hotel room dispute a couple years ago. This guy will probably get slapped with a fine for disorderly conduct and agree not to come back to Iowa.
