Cedar Rapids Man Arrested After Entering Bar with Butcher Knife

By KCRG Intern

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) - A Cedar Rapids man is under arrest after allegedly threatening another person at a bar with a butcher knife.

Police arrested Michael Davis early on Saturday morning. They allege that he had a butcher knife at Chuck and Dale's Bar and threatened another person.

According to a police report, a fight broke out over a damaged bike. Police say Davis retrieved the knife from a nearby relative's house before entering the bar.

He faces charges of public intoxication and carrying weapons.

Police say the person who was threatened declined to press additional charges.

I wish the writer would check the facts. This person was never in the bar he was just passing by. The problem is the neighborhood there is low income goverment housing in the area. Some are people just trying to get by. Others are living off the system and bring the area down. Crime is up the Hyvee drugstor and the Hawkeye gas station have had more then there share of crimes and breakins.

Wow 9:34 PM Anonymous....where in the hell did you learn to write/talk...perhaps you should go back to where you came from. I am sure your mother who is probably also your sister is wondering where her fool of an offspring is.Just as many whites do drugs and just as many get into fights. I am not sure where you got your info from but you are sadly mistaken.

People don't "become racist," they just react to the story. If it involves an African American shooting somebody, they aren't going to be complaining about the white folk, now, are they? You clown.

How did we get on the black-white thing?? Was the guy with the knife black?? It doesn't say he was. Anyway, to African American, it's not so much about color as ratio. THAT is why whites have a tendancy to group all black males into the "thug" catagory. NO, blacks are not always the ones to commit the crimes, but look at how many LESS blacks there are here, than whites, yet look at the ratio of black crimes to white crimes. No matter how self-rightous you are, you have to see (understand) that

Yeah you give us white folks a bottle and we fight. You guys come to Cedar Rapids from Chicago and sell drugs on our streets and then shoot one another because your selling drugs on the wrong turf. This city has seen so many shootings and murders in the last 3 years. Cedar Rapids was a great town about 7 years ago before Chicago got smart and decided to get rid of their projects. NOW ALL THE SCUM IS HERE!!!!

You mean before the smoking ban, there were no such things as assults or threats in bars??? Wow......

Monday, Oct 13 at 8:49 AM garr wrote ...

Chuck and Dale's is one of the most friendliest bars you will find in town. It is unfortunate that due to the low income apartments that are popping up all over the SW side that they have to put up with these kind of problems. This is a serious issue that should be addressed but it's too bad our city doesn't have any leadrership. The people who know the bar as well as the wonderful owners will continue tho show strong support of it.

Jam Papa, see what smoking has done to your brain? It makes you think stupid, or were you born that way and blame cigs?

If we could SMOKE in bars, this would never happen. People can resolve their differences while chilling out with a cig.
