By Ashley Hinson

ROME, WI - This is the time of year when many people carve pumpkins and put them in front of their homes. But a Wisconsin man has found a new use for a carved pumpkin. He's turned one into a mini canoe.

J-R Hildebrandt carved out a giant pumpkin and is paddling it down the
Wisconsin River to raise money for special needs children.

Even after carving, the pumpkin weighs 760 pounds.Inside is a board to keep Hildebrandt stable, a chair, and even a heater for those cool October mornings.

He plans to paddle 150 miles in eight days, raising money for the Tri
City Children's Dream Foundation along the way. That group gives
special-needs kids trips of a lifetime.

John Flodstrom is helping tow the giant gourd to various spots along the
route. He applauds Hildebrandt for his creative way to help kids.
