Coach Involved in Alleged Fight out of Teaching Job

By KCRG Intern

DES MOINES (AP) - One of two Des Moines football coaches who resigned this week after allegedly being involved in a sideline brawl during a game won't return to his position as a chemistry teacher.

Roosevelt High School football coach Chad Swingert and assistant coach Ryan McCracken both resigned from their coaching positions after Tuesday's altercation.

Roosevelt Principal Kathie Danielson says Swingert won't return to the school as a teacher, but she couldn't say whether he resigned or was fired. She said McCracken was not a teacher.

McCracken says Swingert became angry during a game at Hoover High School after a play resulted in an interception. A police report says when McCracken responded with profanity, Swingert allegedly choked him.

No charges have been filed.

Did you go to a private school? Maybe you should ask for your money back! They didn't even teach you to read! But never fear, if you went to a public school maybe your brilliant children will be able to read for you! And by the way, even though you pay for the private tuition, your taxes still pay for public schools!

This would never happen at private schools who offer athletes scholarships, and have a win at all cost mentality.

Public Schmublic: Did your private school not teach you how to read the article? This took place in DES MOINES, NOT Cedar Rapids. Regardless, please don't lump all public school teachers into the same category as these two coaches. The "incident" could've happened with a private school teacher/coach just as easily as a public. Bottom line, these were two INDIVIDUALS who made bad choices, set bad examples for their students, and are now suffering the consequences. Good riddance!

Public schools. This is what you guys send your kids to every day. You expect these kind of people to teach something to your kids? I will gladly pay 230.00 a month in tuition for a private school. My kids will never set foot in a public school. Hmmm. So this is why people break their necks to get their kids to Marion and Linn Mar or enroll in private schools. This is why nobody wants to buy a house in Cedar Rapids. YAY MAYOR KAY!
