Des Moines Football Coaches Resign After Public Fight

By KCRG Intern

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Two football coaches from the same Des Moines high school resigned this week after a public brawl during a game.

Police say Roosevelt High School football coach Chad Swingert and assistant coach Ryan McCracken got into a shouting match on the sideline after a Rough Riders interception on Tuesday at about 8:15 p.m. at Hoover High School in Des Moines.

Police say the shouting escalated and Swingert choked McCracken.

Swingert denied the choking allegation, but a witness tells police that he saw Swingert choke McCracken.

Both men were asked by school officials to resign. Their positions as coaches have been filled.

Police have not charged Swingert, but McCracken says in a police report that he wants to file charges.

Ah love it, babahy, ah love it! Actually, if this is how low coaches have to go in the "winning is everything" mindset, they do need to be shown the door. Poor sportsmanship at its worst. At least the higher-ups at the school had the guts to do what was right.

Nice message for the kids!!! At least the school acted responsibly, they should be fired. Kids would have been suspended or expelled.

Football is a violent game. Why would anybody be surprised that the meathead coaches sometimes get violent. Most of these coaches are either kid touchers or just trying to live vicariously thru the players.
