Man Pleads Not Guilty in Death of Infant Son

By Becky Ogann

IOWA CITY (AP) - A former Iowa City man accused of killing his infant son three years ago has pleaded not guilty.

Brian Dykstra, who now lives in Central, S.C., is charged with second-degree murder in the August 2005 death of his 20-month-old son Isaac. Dykstra entered a written plea of not guilty on Wednesday in Johnson County District Court.

Police say the child died of head trauma inflicted by Dykstra while the child was in his care.

The child was found unconscious and having trouble breathing at Dykstra's Iowa City home on Aug. 13, 2005. He underwent emergency surgery at University Hospitals in Iowa City but never regained consciousness. He died the next day.

Judging people by how they look is what society does. It happens every day all over the country. First impressions are real. The guy that lives up the street with tats all over his neck and face looks like a loser, and guess what? HE IS!! The police are at his house about once a week, there must be a reason for that

I am not critisizing just looking for a serious answer. Was he on the run? Did they just find him or did they just now bring these charges against him. They had to know what killed that little boy long before now.
