DUBUQUE, Iowa-- Andrew Connolly passed away last August after battling cancer. He was an Iraq Veteran and on National Make a Difference Day people gathered in his memory to help others.

Andrew Connolly was a National Guardsman who, shortly after returning from active duty, developed a tumor in his spine. He lost his ability to walk and his home became less accessible as his health deteriorated.

Some people in Dubuque met to help clean leaves off of lawns for others who may not be as mobile or active.

Many of the people watched in surprised as the volunteers worked to make their days a little easier. Connolly's widow, Jennifer and family members were also there to inspire others and offer a smile.
