CLEAR LAKE (AP) - The trial of a Clear Lake businessman accused of violating the city's adult entertainment ordinance by sponsoring a wet T-shirt contest has been delayed.
Alan Slater is the co-owner of The Marina and he was cited on June 16 after he held the contest at his business without a permit. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Trial was scheduled to begin Thursday in Cerro Gordo County District Court but a judge postponed the proceedings to consider four constitutional challenges filed by Slater's attorney, Phil Redenbaugh.
Redenbaugh claims the city's adult entertainment ordinance is unconstitutionally vague and infringes on Slater's First Amendment right to free expression. Redenbaugh also says he plans to claim that Slater is the victim of entrapment.
A hearing on the challenges is scheduled for Nov. 12.

Furious Stiles is right on the money here. Ive never seen a wet t contest with NO ONE entering. Face it, its good clean fun. Mud wrestling isnt clean, but its fun as well! As for "Most women do not enter these kind of contests and if they do they wouldn't be someone I'd want to hang around with", stay home. The rest of us will watch the contest with a beer in one hand, a cigarette in the other, and a dollar in my teeth.

I've been warning all of you that our rights are being stripped away one at time. If you don't like his entertainment then don't attend it. What a bunch of whiners who have nothing better to do than force their BS morality onto others. Women only enter these if they want to.

To 1:00 PM Furious Stiles who said, "Most women can't wait to do this kind of stuff anyway, it makes them feel needed." You have GOT to be living in lala land. Most women do not enter these kind of contests and if they do they wouldn't be someone I'd want to hang around with.

What a huge waste of time and money. You can be a murderer and get a free education but you cant have a wet T-shirt contest? This is one reason this country is going downhill FAST!! Waste court time on REAL criminals, not a guy who is making his customers happy!!

What a joke! Are we a bunch of puritans or what? What is the worse that could happen as a result of a wet t-shirt contest? This guy should be commended, not fined. Most women can't wait to do this kind of stuff anyway, it makes them feel needed.

Whats wrong with a wet t-shirt contest, its not like they were totally nude. Unless there were bigger women in it, then there is no place for that.
