Calamus Man Convicted of Harassment, Extortion

CLINTON (AP) - A Calamus man has been found guilty of extortion and harassment for telling a woman he would post photographs of her daughter on the Internet if she didn't pay him $400.

A Clinton County District Court judge delivered the verdict on Thursday in the case against Jeffrey Soboroff.

During his bench trial, a judge heard an audio recording of phone messages Soboroff left on Christi Miller's answering machine in March.

Sentencing was scheduled for Oct. 30.

A hearing date has not be set on two other harassment charges that Soboroff faces for calls he made in March to two other Calamus residents.
