It's a new place for dozens of cancer patients treated in Iowa City as they now have a home away from home.
The new Hope Lodge at the University of Iowa is nearly finished.
The 28-room facility will provide free, temporary housing for adult cancer patients who have to travel long distances to undergo treatment.
"This really improves the quality of life for a lot of people in Iowa," said Chuck Reed, American Cancer Society. "I think that is really important. When people can stay here at no cost and can concentrate on getting better rather than paying for a hotel room or driving back and forth every day worried about the price of gas."
The new Hope Lodge will open its doors at the end of this month... and will be open every day, year-round for those in need of a place to stay.
