A $25 million donation from the Fraternal Order of the Eagles will help build a new diabetes research center at the University of Iowa.
More than 24-million Americans battle diabetes.
The goal of this new partnership is to find a cure for diabetes within the lifetime of today's grade school children.
The Fraternal Order of the Eagles chose to give the money to the University because many of their members battle diabetes.
"This all came about because we needed to do something different," said Bill Loffer, membership director and immediat past chairman of The Fraternal Order of Eagles board of trustees. "We needed to find a way to let people know what we do and let others know we want to lessen the ills of mankind."
