IOWA CITY - The Iowa State Attorney General’s office has released a multi-page index which lists all of the documents that the University of Iowa will withhold from the pending sexual assault case against two University of Iowa football players.

Citing various legal codes and protected attorney/client privileges for keeping the materials confidential, nearly 80 percent of the documents collected from the University in the case involving Abe Satterfield and Cedric Evenson who have been charged with sexual assault will not be known to the general public.

Among those documents redacted from public view include the following:

• Dozens of emails from University of Iowa coaches to students and students to coaches both before and after alleged incident occurred on October 14, 2007
• Several lists of questions to potentially ask University of Iowa coaches and to ask students who may have some involvement with the case
• Photos of a University of Iowa student taken at a hospital after the alleged incident
• A summary from University Housing regarding what occurred during the alleged incident
• Letters sent to students from the University of Iowa’s equal opportunity office
• Handwritten notes written by University of Iowa Athletics Director and Assistant Athletics director regarding the alleged incident report, a timeline surrounding the incident, and those that listed the names of individuals who should be contacted

The Iowa State Board of Regents has been investigating how the University of Iowa handled the alleged incident. The regents are awaiting a report from the St. Louis law firm Stolar Partnership regarding their findings on Thursday.

Satterfield has been charged with second-degree sexual abuse, aiding and abetting and third-degree sexual abuse. Everson has been charged with third-degree sexual abuse. A trial date has been set for November 3.
