IOWA CITY (AP) - The attorney for a former University of Iowa football player accused of sexually assaulting a woman wants his client's charges to be decided separately.

Des Moines attorney Alfredo Parrish filed court documents this week asking that a judge sever the third-degree sexual abuse and second-degree sexual abuse charges against Abe Satterfield.

Parrish has also asked that Satterfield's trial be held separately from his co-defendant and former teammate, Cedric Everson, who is charged with second-degree sexual abuse.

The men are accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a University of Iowa residence hall last October.

No hearing has been set yet on the motions filed by Parrish.

Satterfield and Everson are scheduled to go to trial together on Nov. 3.
