County Attorney Wants Players Trials Held Together

By Becky Ogann

IOWA CITY (AP) - The Johnson County Attorney's office has filed a motion asking that two former University of Iowa football players be tried together in a sexual assault case.

Assistant County Attorney Anne Lahey filed a motion responding defense attorney's request to sever the trials of former Hawkeye football players Abe Satterfield and Cedric Everson.

Defense attorney Alfredo Parrish maintains a joint trial would prove to be prejudicial for his client, Satterfield.

Satterfield and Everson have been charged with second-degree sexual abuse in an alleged incident at a University of Iowa dorm last year.

Satterfield faces an additional charge of third-degree sexual abuse. Both men have pleaded not guilty and are scheduled to go on trial together on Nov. 3.
