DES MOINES (AP) - Gov. Chet Culver has unveiled a new stamp featuring the Iowa flag.

Culver joined postal officials on Thursday at the Statehouse to unveil the latest stamp in the "Flags of our Nation" series.

Iowa's flag was designed to represent the values on which the state was founded, and Culver says they are the same values Iowans continue to live by.

The event featured high school bands, a Color Guard from the Iowa Army National Guard and remarks by Culver.

The Flags of our Nation stamps were introduced last spring. Iowa is one of the ten states or territories being honored during the second release of this series. The series will continue through 2010, and will feature a total of 60 stamps when completed.

Doug Morrow, a district manager for the Postal Service, says each state has something unique to contribute to the series.
