IOWA CITY - A man whose nose was bitten off now faces his own charges.

Authorities in Iowa City have charged Matthew Osing with assault and use of a deadly weapon for allegedly striking another man during a fight.

Police say the two men got into an argument in late July when Osing asked Donroy Merrival to leave his apartment.

Osing allegely hit Merrival in the head with a shovel. And police say Merrival responded by attacking Osing and biting off his nose.

Merrival also faces charges.
