DAVENPORT - The Von Maur department store chain is being sued for alleged discrimination.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claims Von Maur failed to hire qualified African Americans for various retail and warehouse positions.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, seeks damages for four applicants, and for a class of unsuccessful black applicants.

Von Maur issued a response saying they have reviewed the complaints, and all the allegations made by the lawsuit are false.

The Davenport-based chain has several stores in Eastern Iowa, including two locations in Cedar Rapids.
