VAN HORNE - Strong winds, possibly a tornado, tore through eastern Iowa just south of Van Horne, destroying a farm shed.
It only took a few minutes to tear through the area. When the wind came through and knocked down a nearby building, there was actually someone trapped inside. Miraculously, he ended up with only a few minor cuts and scratches.
“I can't even explain it," Ryan Gibney said about the experience. "When the wind was blowing so hard, it was picking up pieces of the building. I could see 'em blowing away. I didn't know it was a tornado, and I was afraid I was going to be lifted up with all the debris, scattered down the road."
Gibney stored all kinds of farm equipment inside this building. Even though most of it was damaged, everyone is grateful to be okay.
Gibney plans to start the clean-up process Friday.
