GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. - A Cedar Rapids man is dead after a shooting outside of a Missouri night club.
Police say they found Jesse Saldivar Jr., 38, already dead when they arrived on scene.
Grain Valley police chief Aaron Ambrose tells TV-9 they received a call around 3:15 a.m. Thursday for a possible disturbance outside of Whiskey Tango, a country-western club in the 800 block of San Kar Drive in Grain Valley.
When they arrived, officers reported seeing a group of people mingling outside of the building - the club had already closed at 3 a.m. Ambrose says one man immediately told those officers he was the shooter, and pointed to the hood of a car at a hand gun.
The victim and suspect were allegedly involved in a verbal and maybe even physical altercation in the parking lot prior to the shooting. Ambrose believes the suspect went to his car to retrieve the gun.
However, family members tell TV9 that eye-witnesses tell them there wasn't a fight, and that Saldivar may have just been in the wrong spot at the wrong time.
Police arrested the man as the shooting suspect, but won't release his name until formal charges are filed. His car has also been impounded.
If you would like to contact the Saldivar family, they are asking you send them regards through the following e-mail: Gandara_Paulette@yahoo.com

Dear ME: if you are indeed the shooter, why did you say you did it and then envoked your rights to remain silent. Why would you write "come get me"? I realize you must live with this the rest of your life but why did this happen and why did u loose it so badly u felt u had to shoot a gun at someone. Did u not realize the consequences?

any situation like this is a tragedy...families (both sides) impacted for life, fathers now missing from the family. to all that have commented before about "a good time" away from kids, etc, on vacation...that is a relative statement. there are more productive ways to have fun. not a whole lot of good happens after midnight (including the bar scene). until we know all the facts, we cannot speculate on all that happened. it is a tragedy no matter how it all happened when a family is fatherless.

Is there such a thing as self defense...but if you walk to your vechile to get a gun and then walk back and shoot someone 3 times...that isn't self defense. If you can make it to your vechile to get a gun..you could have made it to your vechile and drove away!!!!!!!!! Self defense won't fly in this case because this wasn't a kill or be killed situation, when you CHOOSE to get a gun and then CHOOSE to come back to this "supposed" altercation then it isn't self defense.

One last thing, obviously they released the shooter because at this time they fo no thave enough evidence to charge him with a crime. I believe, in MO at least, you can only be held for 24 hours before they have to release you or charge you. Also, why are you saying this is a hate crime?
Sunday, Jul 27 at 8:19 AM Concerned in MO wrote ...
I didn't say having a rap sheet gave a reason to kill him. I am curious though how you can comment on what happened that night, and about the shooter when none of you know the truth. Unless you were in that parking lot, with those two men, you have no idea what really happened. Who is to say why he pulled the trigger. Could it have been malicious, could it have been self defense? Was he military, was he not? None of us, who weren't there know the truth.

I have known Indio along time and am so very saddened to hear about this tragedy. My heart goes out to his family and especially his four children. We were all lucky to get to know him. This is so senseless. This stresses more than ever the need for gun control!
