Man Injured in Hit and Run Accident has Died

By Becky Ogann

ANKENY (AP) - Ankeny police are searching for a driver they say was behind the wheel in a fatal hit and run accident.

Andrew Hughes of Roland died Wednesday afternoon from injuries he suffered in the accident. Police say he was hit Monday by his own car - a green 1999 Honda Passport with an Iowa license plate 709NDP.

Police say the 43-year-old was dragged from the passenger door of the vehicle before becoming dislodged. There was another person in the backseat who fled the car.

Authorities say they want to talk with Hughes' friends and anyone who saw the car.

This article is poorly written, and impossible to fully understand. Raises more questions than stating facts. Very confusing-

To Uncommon sense?.........they also did not mention that they were wearing clothes, therefore, do we assume that everyone was naked too?

I think common sense is becoming more uncommon, but it is the job of the media, to put fourth full detailed stories, that allow their viewers (in this case readers) to be fully informed of what happened. Please pray for the family of Andrew Hughes, it is a sad thing to lose anyone.

To 3:23 PM......I guess they probably thought that the driver was a given......not too sure how one would get hit by a car if NO ONE was driving it........Common sense ain't so common, I guess you have to spell it out for some people!

I'm kinda confused by this article too. There is no mention of a driver, just a backseat passenger that fled the car.

11:27 PM Anonymous....I think the previous poster was alluding to how the sequence of events could have happened..sounds more like a carjacking then a hit and run.

think about it... he is being dragged from the car, then falls out onto the road and his own car runs him over. it's not too hard to figure out!

So was this a hit and run, or was he pushed out of his vehicle? How was he hit by his own car if he was being dragged from the passenger door? This story doesn't make a lot of sense.
