CRESTON (AP) - State environmental officials say Green Valley State Park in Creston in southeast Iowa will get a major overhaul over the next two years.

The transformation is expected to include a new lake and improved campground.

Iowa Department of Natural Resources staff began lowering the lake earlier this month.

Major renovations to the campground and other park development work is expected to begin sometime after the 2008 camping season.

The project includes paving a one-mile trail from Mitchell Marsh north of Creston that will connect with Green Valley State Park.
