reply to: "Friday, Jul 18 at 2:34 PM Wiseguy All that coffee can give you kidney stones, too." ***Just so you know coffee is a diuretic which in turn helps to rid the body of chemicals (calcium, uric acid, etc) that can cause stones. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT not so Wiseguy... By the way I do think it is sad when any company starts to close stores. People lose jobs and it is a direct reflection of our economy!

Where will we go now to get a 5 dollar cup of coffee?? This city is going to hell fast.....

Whats it matter if one or two or seven close? Not like there aren't other places to get coffee. Besides, its funny, there is a Starbucks in the Lindale mall food court, and then theres on right across Collins Road. You can almost see it sitting next to the one in Lindale. Talk about needing some schooling in economics, why on earth would you put two that close together. GEESH

Another case of GREED! Something is overpriced, people don't want to, or can't afford it anymore and so to handle the loss of business they have to close up shop. Instead, maybe it would be better business to keep things moderately priced and then you can stay in business longer. What ever happened to companies making a "comfortable living"? Why is there so much greed and need to have "the most money possible"?

To those who said they don't care...good for you. Some people DO care. If you don't care, just shut up!

UMMMMMMMMM THERE ISN'T A STARBUCKS IN LINDALE MALL IT IS ACROSS THE STREET BY BED BATH AND BEYOND!!!! I FEEL SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE LOSING THERE JOBS BUT THE COMPANY WAS RIPING PEOPLE OFF WITH THE PRICES!!!!

As for the comments bemoaning the loss of people's jobs...sorry about that but a place that's not selling its product and earning enough money cannot stay open just to save people's jobs. Find work with a company whose product or service is more in demand, as in NECESSARY. Don't expect anyone to run out and choose to buy an $5 CUP of coffee over a gallon of gas that costs nearly that just to keep the place in business either.

After hearing that Star Bucks doesn't support our troops there is no way I would ever walk into it again anyways. That's what they get. What business could turn their backs on our troops when they are out there dieing.

I would just like to note that many people do not go to a coffee-shop for something as simple as coffee. They go for the people, atmosphere, and the kind of conversation and leisure that the shop has to offer. It is so much more than a coffeshop…It is a common area for productivity, creativity, and bonding.

Oh no where are all the classy people going to go to talk about politics and poetry. I'm sensing a huge protest on the horizon. Who cares, close em all down

Too bad they don't just make it more affordable so people would go there and employees could keep their jobs. I like the coffee, but the location at Coral Ridge was awful. I would prefer to walk to Barnes and Noble, get a cup and sit and look at book while I take my coffee break.

I gotta say, the only starbucks around here that I like is the one at Target South here in C.R. Those people are always friendly to me and strike up conversations easily which makes me feel welcome and in a relaxed atmosphere. I'm not real keen on the prices, but other than that, it's nice to get a cup of coffee and walk around to shop.

The employees must not care THAT much otherwise they'd be doing a better job making sure enough overpriced coffee would be selling to stay in business.

The Muscatine Mall booted a Local Drive-Thru Coffee Shop because of speculation of Starbucks building a new location here, what a buncha of crud.

Friday, Jul 18 at 5:54 PM Fortunately wrote ...

Fortunately, there are several locally-owned alternatives where frequently, the coffee - and the company - is far better.

How good can coffee be to spend $5 for a cup? I have never bought any product from Starbucks. I guess the shifting economy has made people cut back on excessive spending - and Starbucks has been identified as an unnecessary expense.

Friday, Jul 18 at 2:34 PM Wiseguy wrote ...

Good. I've always thought that paying a chunk of cash for a cup of java jolt was a little kooky. Why not just buy a 3 pound container at your favorite grocery store and add your own flavoring or whatever for a fraction of the cost. All that coffee can give you kidney stones, too.

Friday, Jul 18 at 1:49 PM What a shame wrote ...

Now people will have to walk all the way to the other end of Coral Ridge to get Starbucks at Barnes & Noble. What a shame indeed..... Not surprised that one is closing though. Always thought that was the worst location in the mall that they could possibly have.
