DART Ridership Highest Since 1984

By Becky Ogann

DES MOINES (AP) - The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority says the number of riders for this past fiscal year reached its highest level since 1984.

The transit agency says ridership was up 10 percent for the period from July 2007 to June 2008. That's double the national trend. Officials say the addition of new services and rising gas prices sparked the increase in public transportation usage.

DART says it also saw a record number of riders using bike racks.

Washington must be bleeding with all that red ink and lets not forget the war that has cost us so dearly... God bless to all that have served and all those that have passed fighting for our freedoms. I thank you.
