IOWA CITY - Dubuque Street will reopen this afternoon at 5:00 p.m., both northbound and southbound. A single lane will be open northbound in front of the Mayflower dormitory while cleaning is still ongoing in the other lane, and both lanes will be open southbound.
The underwater diving inspection of Park Road bridge will occur on Thursday, July 10. City engineers will assess the results of that inspection and the bridge will remain closed until that review is complete.
Iowa Avenue is closed eastbound from the bridge to Madison Street. There is a large sinkhole under the east lane between the river and the CRANDIC Railroad. The westbound lanes are open, however. This sinkhole will necessitate a long term closure of the eastbound lanes, perhaps a month or longer.
