DUBUQUE (AP) - The Dubuque City Council has scrapped an ordinance that required a physician or osteopath to be present when a person gets a tattoo.

As soon as Friday the city will begin to follow state code that doesn't have such restrictions.

The change came after Jeff Davis, a Dubuque resident and owner of two Wisconsin tattoo parlors, asked the council in April to re-examine the law.

The council voted 7-0 on Monday to get rid of the ordinance.
