Convicted Killer Gets Additional Sentence

By Cassie Huisman

IOWA CITY - A convicted killer who is already serving
two consecutive life sentences is having five more years tacked on
to his time in prison.
Kyle Marin was on probation in 2004 when he killed cousins Molly
Edmondson, of Cedar Rapids, and Katrina Hill, of Solon. According
to a Sixth District court ruling, the additional five years is for
a suspended sentence Marin had received for a 2004 willful injury
conviction.
In that case, the 22-year-old was convicted of assaulting a man
with a brick near a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Coralville.

So... does this mean that once he dies in prison, now we'll wait 5 years, let his carcass rot, then drag it out and bury it? Works for me!

Iowa does NOT have the death penalty. The federal government, however, does. Therefore, if someone is convicted of a capital FEDERAL crime, they may get the death penalty. Get your facts straight.

P.S. Iowa DOES have death penalty. Hasn't been used in a VERY long time. But we DO have it. I think this could've been avoided completely.

i know kyle. known him for 10. let him sleep on my couch one night. he is a monster and should get the death penalty. but 5 more years on 2 life sentences? i could see if he could parole in 25 years. waste of money

And how much did this additional, useless sentence cost the taxpayer? Don't they have better things to do with our tax dollars than this garbage? I am glad to see there is a surplus of money in the coffers, perhaps it can be used to clean up certain parts of Johnson county neighborhoods...the ones flooded with crime...not water.

PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID, EVEN IF HE WASN'T DOING LIFE, THE ADDITIONAL 5 YEARS WOULD BE TIME SERVED FROM HIS ORIGINAL SENTENCE. THIS IS JUST A KICK IN THE SHORTS FOR THE FAMILIES OF THE VICTIMS. MARIN DOESN'T CARE IF HE GETS 50 MORE YEARS. THE GUY IS A CREEP! THE KEEPER

Remember, the new Sheriff of Johnson County said we do not need a jail, we have alternative release programs and two people are dead because of his liberal stance. Just think of all the other mental health people he has released just waiting to get you.

Both of these girls would still be alive with their families had our judicial system taken care of Marin the first time. Our mental health system is also at fault for shoving pills at him and hoping he would take them. I hope his physician has many sleepless nights over the poor decisions made in his case.

I actually had a run-in with this guy before all this. He nearly got his "arse" beat since he was messing with friends of mine at a show in IC. I wish I could have done something to make the murders not happen, since I have a friend who was close to the deceased, and Iv'e actually met Kat at a show in CR. RIP Kat and Molly.

In other words. If are Justice system would have worked right the first time. Those two girls would still be alive today, but instead people who think that we're to "tough" on criminals and let him off with a suspended sentence on the assault case. Boy that really taught him a lesson didn't it.
