Two Vehicle Wreck Sends One to Hospital

BLACK HAWK COUNTY, Iowa - A crash involving a garbage truck and a car sent an Independence, Iowa man to the hospital Friday afternoon.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's office said deputies cited the garbage truck driver for failure to obey a stop sign.

Investigators said the car was engulfed in flames when crews arrived at Barclay Road and Nesbit Road shortly before 4 p.m. They said the garbage truck is owned by Thomas James LLC of Dunkerton.

Deputies said the car driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.
